EHCP Review & Written Representations

Make sure the EHCP says what your child actually needs

An EHCP can exist and still be too vague, out of date or difficult to enforce.

I review the plan against the evidence and prepare clear written representations setting out the changes that should be considered.

£895 fixed fee

When an EHCP needs a closer review

Families often contact me because:

The plan no longer reflects the child

Needs have changed but the EHCP has not kept pace.

Provision is vague

Important support is described using wording such as “access to”, “opportunities for” or “as required” rather than clearly specifying what should be provided.

Professional recommendations are missing

Reports contain important recommendations that have not been properly carried into the plan.

The annual review is approaching

And you want to understand what should be changed before decisions are made.

A draft amended plan has arrived

And you need to know what should be accepted, challenged or strengthened.

Services and Fees

Review of the EHCP

I review the current plan in full, including the sections dealing with needs, provision and placement where relevant.

Review of supporting evidence

I consider the professional reports and other relevant evidence you provide.

Identification of weaknesses

I identify wording that is unclear, outdated, unsupported or inconsistent with the evidence.

Written recommendations

You receive a clear written review setting out the amendments I believe should be sought.

Written representations

Where appropriate, I prepare the written representations to the local authority explaining the changes requested and the evidence supporting them.

£895 fixed fee

The fee covers the work described above.

It does not include ongoing case management after the request has been prepared.

After the review

Once the written review or representations have been provided, you may receive further responses from the school or local authority.

Those developments are not included automatically within the £895 fee.

Case management — £150 per hour

If you want me to remain involved, ongoing work is charged at £150 per hour, agreed in advance.

This may include:

  • reviewing a revised draft;

  • responding to local-authority correspondence;

  • negotiating specific amendments;

  • preparing agreed further representations;

  • reviewing consultation responses;

  • or advising on an appealable decision.

Clear boundaries

The fixed-fee service does not include:

  • unlimited email questions;

  • repeated revisions as new documents arrive;

  • ongoing liaison with school or local authority;

  • telephone meetings;

  • open-ended case management;

  • or reviewing multiple successive versions of the EHCP.

If further work is needed, I will explain what I recommend and the likely time required before carrying it out.

Questions families often ask

Is this the same as an annual review?

No. The annual review is the statutory process. My service is an independent review of the EHCP and evidence so that you know what changes should be sought.

Can you review a draft EHCP?

Yes. I can review a draft, amended draft or existing final plan.

Will you rewrite the whole EHCP?

Where wording needs to change, I identify and propose appropriate amendments. The exact work required depends on the plan and evidence.

What if the local authority refuses the changes?

Depending on the decision made, you may have further options including appeal. That work is separate from the £895 review service.

Can you speak to the local authority for me?

Yes, if agreed as additional case-management work at £150 per hour.

To begin, tell me:

  • your child’s age;

  • whether the plan is draft or final;

  • when it was last reviewed;

  • what you believe is wrong with it;

  • and whether there is an approaching deadline.

I will confirm whether the service is appropriate and what documents I need.
